Hydraulic Top Link
is essentially a standard double-acting hydraulic cylinder with welded ends for installation between the tractor and the tractor attachment. It is definitely an upgrade to the tractor if it is not already on it. Our hydraulic top links are galvanized for the best possible corrosion protection. All hydraulic top links are also equipped with a block valve. In case of hydraulic hose damage, the cylinder of the top link remains in the same position as well as the attachment. The block valve also ensures that the hoses are not under pressure despite vibrations during driving, which prevents unnecessary load on the tractor’s hydraulic valve.
Most common types of hydraulic top links:
- STANDARD hydraulic top link
(with welded eye bearings on both sides)
- Hydraulic top link with hook
(on the piston rod, there is a quick-release hook for a ball to connect the tractor attachment)
- SPECIAL hydraulic top link
(a hydraulic top link with a hook, but instead of an eye bearing on the cylinder, a special welded hook is used which allows greater side movement of the top link)
- THREADED hydraulic top link
(the length of the top link could be extended by the length of the thread)
Use of hydraulic top links:
Hydraulic top links are increasingly indispensable on every tractor, especially with plows for soil, where precise adjustment of the plow is crucial. They are also very useful with land levelers, tractor forklifts (for tilt adjustment), and even tipping platforms.
How to choose the right hydraulic top link for your tractor?
Step 1: How many horsepower does your tractor have?
Category 1: for tractors from 20 to 55 HP (15 – 40 kW)
Category 2: for tractors from 45 to 95 HP (35 – 70 kW)
Category 3: for tractors from 80 to 210 HP (60 – 155 kW)
Category 4: for tractors from 180 to 380 HP (135 – 285 kW)
It is also worth considering what kind of implement the top link will be used for, since, for example, with a 100 HP tractor, a Category 3 top link is not necessary if it will only be used for a tipping platform with a maximum load capacity of 1500 kg.
Step 2: Which pin holes must the top link have?
Category 1: Holes 19,2 mm or 25,4 mm
Category 2: Holes 25,4 mm
Category 3: Holes 25,4 mm or 32,4 mm
Category 4: Holes 45,2 mm or 32,4 mm
It is possible to use a reducer, which allows one top link to be used on several different tractors or attachments. For hydraulic top links with a hook (automatic) or special versions, the holes are defined by the ball, which is clamped into the quick-release hook of the top link.
Step 3: Suitable length or stroke of the top link.
There is no strict rule or exact standard for how much stroke a hydraulic top link should have for a particular type of tractor. This mainly depends on the type of tractor and the attachments for which it is intended. Usually, it is used with several implements that you own, so you need to determine a length suitable for most of them. The easiest way is to measure the threaded top link that is already installed on your tractor. Based on the shortened length of the threaded top link (measured from both hole centers), you can select the nearest hydraulic top link and see its maximum extended length and stroke.
Standard strokes of hydraulic top links are:
- 160 mm
- 210 mm
- 280 mm
- 340 mm
- 400 mm
The overall lengths of top links with the same stroke depend on the type.
Step 4: Choosing the type of hydraulic top link.
- Standard hydraulic top link
(used with regular tractors)
- Hydraulic top link with hook
(used if the tractor is equipped with quick-release hooks on the lower lifting arms)
- Special hydraulic top link
(for greater side movement)
- Threaded hydraulic top link
(the length of the top link can be extended by the thread length)
Hydraulic top links are suitable for tractors:
Zetor, Fendt, Deutz-Fahr, Massey Ferguson, Fiat, John Deere, Case, Renault, IMT, Ursus, Steyr, Hürlimann, Lamborghini, Same, Landini, Valtra, Claas, New Holland, Caterpillar, Bobcat, Volvo, Carraro, Yanmar, Štore, Lindner, Solis.
