Description
SEA7 series worm gear slew drives with a 12 V electric motor offer a compact, robust, and cost-effective solution for electrically driven rotation and precise positioning of various structures and equipment. They combine a worm gear reducer, slewing bearing, and electric motor into a single functional unit capable of transmitting high torque and withstanding axial, radial, and tilting loads.
The SEA7 series is suitable for applications requiring slow, smooth, and controlled rotation. Thanks to the integrated 12 V electric motor, the drive is particularly useful for equipment and vehicles with a 12-volt electrical system, as it does not require an additional hydraulic system for operation.
How the Worm Gear Slew Drive Works
The worm gear slew drive operates on the principle of a worm gear transmission, in which the electric motor drives a toothed slewing ring through a worm shaft. This design provides a high reduction ratio, high torque, and slow, smooth, and controlled rotation.
The integrated 12 V electric motor enables electric operation without the need for a hydraulic pump, hydraulic motor, or hydraulic hoses. This simplifies installation and allows the drive to be used in equipment where a hydraulic system is not available.
The drive enables continuous 360° rotation, while the integrated slewing bearing supports axial and radial forces as well as tilting moments. The worm gear transmission also provides high holding torque, contributing to the positional stability of the rotating structure.

Load Capacity Diagram
The diagram shows the permissible combinations of axial load and tilting moment for the SEA7 worm gear slew drive. As the axial load increases, the permissible tilting moment decreases. To ensure proper selection and safe operation of the drive, the limit values specified by the manufacturer must be observed.

Horizontal axis: axial load in kN.
Vertical axis: tilting moment in kNm.
Highlighted area: permissible load combinations according to the manufacturer's diagram.
Limit curve: combined load limit that must not be exceeded.
